DISABLE THOSE STUPID GUEST ACCOUNTS PEOPLE.
I feel so disgruntled about finding out that such a bug exists in Macs…after the damn thing erased my entire hard drive.
Thank God I backed-up some items last month, but considering that I have this machine that has the price tag of a second hand car, i couldn’t help but sending an email to Apple about this seriously unfortunate event…I mean this is ridiculous! ALL MY FILES? EVEN MY EMAILS?
Apparently, Apple has already garnered some bad publicity about this bug…which I don’t think they’ve fixed with their software updates. So Mac users beware, this is what happened to me and hundreds of others all over the world:
I opened my mac, i accidentally pressed on the “Guest Account” on log-in (this has happened before, zero problems), then it took about 5-10 minutes and it was still booting. So i pressed the power button, and logged into my account with the password…voila…I LOST EVERYTHING.
Well at least I still have my Apps. But now I’m thinking of doing a clean install…I mean is this just a bug or a virus? I’ve heard this happen to iMac users, MBP user, MB users…all the same…they accidentally hit that stupid Guest Account.
So now I am in the process of doing a quick scan of Bogart…using Data Rescue 3…I’ve got 4 freaking hours to go since it takes about 3 minutes per gigabite to do the deep scan. Hopefully it recovers my iWeb at the very least…else I’ll have to do 3 huge websites from scratch…

accident happens. that’s why it pays to invest in an external drive that you can use for regularly backing up your laptop or desktop. i have a 1 TB buffalo livestation drive for this purpose. i got it for $149. another thing good about it is that i can access the files on that drive over the internet even if my desktop is off. i think it’s a good investment considering the hassles that you have to go through should you lose your main drive. just a thought.
