quick ice cream by moi

I had kiddie stars Gabby and Bea of Lovely Day visit me to get their hands on a little food styling. We did fake ice cream, roasted chicken and a sandwich. It was a pretty fun shoot.

Bea did some painting to make the chicken look perfectly roasted.

And Gab did a little kneading and scooping to try his luck on the fake ice cream.

I’ve finally had time to play around with my ice cream formula during bobby chinn’s shoot, and even he seemed pretty impressed. I also found a nice substitute to vanilla bean hehe.

I wish I had a mini-lab at home where I could do some more experiments. :p

It’s funny because at first the researcher actually thought that what I was really doing was a fine Japanese fake food art called Sampuru. These are the fake food that you see on Japanese windows showcasing their menu items. There is actually an entire store in Japan specializing on hundreds of fake foods. From sushi down to drinks, rice meals and even kakigori, these plastic meals never have to be revived…I wonder if someday they will make it so well that the industry will have less use for people with jobs like mine. Sampuru training for me? Maybe someday.

Anyway, the closest I could think of to sampuru is the fake ice cream mixture. It never dies and it’s pretty tame once you have the perfect few scoops. I think the show will be airing this weekend in GMA 7 for all the kiddies to see.
